If you are looking for a large house to rent in Norfolk, Gunthorpe Hall just might tick all your boxes. Gunthorpe Hall is a quintessential English country house. It has been privately owned since the 1970s. Through hard work and an absolute commitment to the property, the owners have turned the Hall into a very special, unique venue in Norfolk.
You can hire the Hall for any function, whether it be a wedding, stag or hen weekend, party, family reunion or simply a country house weekend away with friends. Whilst you are here, it will truly be your home from home.
The Hall is furnished in a comfortable style, with so many eccentric and unique pieces it it very difficult to describe. The joy of spending quality time here, is you will be able to take everything in at your own pace. There is so much to see, and there literally is a surprise around every corner.
You can read more about the hall and it’s facilities on our dedicated page Gunthorpe Hall
A large house to rent in Norfolk that is about as perfect as you can get
Our wedding weekend was simply perfect, the team at Gunthorpe Hall are incredible, nothing was too much trouble and the memories of staying at the Hall will stay with us forever, thank you.
The Hall is rambling, unique and filled with the most wonderful objects, you won’t know which way to look first. It is eccentric, quirky and romantic. There is simply too much to note but we hope the photographs will give you a flavour of the Hall.
Drawing room: huge beautiful light filled room with large sash and bay windows to the formal gardens and parterre. Large ornate open fire, roaring in cold weather, perfect for late night chats and red wine. Plenty of seating and comfortable spots to sit. A delightful room for gatherings, playing games, socialising and relaxing. Perfect for pre dinner drinks. Views over the parterre and formal gardens, access to gardens. Fling the doors open and wander out onto the terrace with your champagne!
Billiard room: I know this will be a favourite room with many guests. Imagine a comfortable Victorian gentlemen’s library or club, dark paint, books and of course the essential full sized billiard table. An extremely evocative, romantic room. TV with Freeview channels.
Dining Hall: this room is a homage to feasting and merriment with its ornate carved fireplace and oak panelling. The huge sash windows overlook the gardens and over the fields beyond. When the tables are set for a formal occasion this room comes to life. With the vast panelled shutters closed to the world you will be transported back in time.
Reception Hall: Another vast space with the most beautiful sweeping oak staircase that is perfect for wafting down in evening attire or a wedding dress. The hall space can be used for dancing in the evenings. Sound system, large multi fuel burner making this a cosy space.
Front Hall: I love this formal entrance to the main hall. To drive up to this front door you really know you have arrived! Stunning tiled floor and the perfect space to greet guests as they come into your home from home.
Kitchen: Wonderful commercially equipped kitchen. With original storage cupboards that fill the walls. Huge table with benches and plenty of everything you need to cook up a storm. Large double gas range oven and 8 burner top. Full working AGA with 2 top cooking zones and 2 ovens one regular and one slow cooking for roasting etc. 1 large two door commercial catering large fridge. Large scrubbed pine farmhouse kitchen with seating for 20. Lots of fascinating objects to keep the conversation going during meal times, in the informal space of the kitchen.
Laundry Room: 2 domestic dishwashers, a medium sized chest freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and a double under counter bottle chiller.

A short walk across the lawns is the private fishing lake. You can fish here to your hearts content. If you are brave enough you can go wild swimming, or just sit and stare and watch the wild life.
